Surgery Day

Nate’s surgery was originally scheduled to begin at 11:00. Grandma and Grandpa were still driving when we found out there would be a delay. They arrived at the hospital at about 1:30, just 30 minutes before Nathan’s surgery began.

The surgery started at 2:00 and lasted just over 5 hours. Waiting to hear the results seemed to take forever. We passed the time talking with Grandma & Grandpa and Gail, Brian & Shelley–along with sending continuous text messages to keep family and friends up to date with the days milestones.

Many, many thanks to friends and family for all of the prayers, fasting and thoughts that definitely helped us make it through the day.

When the surgery was complete, the surgeon, Dr Kestle, came to the waiting room to tell us how things went. He felt confident that he had found and removed the entire ping pong ball-sized tumor. But later we heard that there was a small spot, about 1/2 the size of a pea, showing on the follow-up MRI.
