Spencer’s Cardiology Appointment

Today we learned that Spencer’s body is rejecting the pulmonic valve that was replaced last year.  Scar tissue is causing the valve to constrict, in turn causing substantially higher pressure in his right atrium.  Dr. Mart, Spencer’s cardiologist will be meeting with the cardiology board on Monday to investigate Spencer’s options.  We are hoping he has grown enough to allow the option of using a Melody Valve.  The surgery for placing this valve is less intrusive than for a standard valve replacement.  If he is not yet large enough, a full open-heart surgery will be required.

We should have a better idea of the course we will follow by next week.  As of today we only know that the surgery needs to take place within the next month.
